James Morrison is a well known musician songwriter and guitarist from the UK who has won many awards, the most famous being; BRIT Awards. The album 'Undiscovered' was his debut which was released in the UK on 10th Jully 2006. In it first week it had sold over 84 thousand copies of the album just in the UK. Its been certificated GOLD in Australia & New Zealand and PLATINUM in the UK & Ireland. It has since then sold over 850,000 copies in the UK in 2006, yet bringing his total sales to over 1,000,000 in March 2007. He later promoted his album in the United States.
What is significant about James Morrisons albums are that, he uses a picture of himself for the front cover of his albums and 'Undiscovered' is no exception. This may be one of his techniques to sell him self to his audience to have insight to the artists appearance and to have a general perspective on them. This relates to star image and I believe James Morrison presents himself a lot. He also makes his name and the name of his albums/singles written in his font and made bold on the cover of the album as well for his audience to distinguish himself from others.
Morrison said that most of the songs are intended to be a 'harsh love songs', and the lyrics mean that protagonist of the songs
does not love the person as much as she loves him, but is willing to give the relationship a try.
Some of his songs made it onto American television programs such as; Ugly Betty, Greys Anatomy.
